*sigh* April 27, 2009

OK guys, quick post! The eBay auction was cancelled by eBay because I tried to link to this new site rather than the wordpress one and that apparantly goes against their T&C. I’m biting my tongue over my thoughts on eBay at the moment.

So They can now be found at :

Ebay

Unfortunately all those people who bid and watched got canceled, hopefully you can see this post and have another go.

Sorry again guys.

Very cool!

So head over to www.kyozokicks.com NOW and bookmark, better yet and it to your RSS feed and get all the news as soon as its posted.

Today We Give Thanks April 25, 2009

Thanks!

Well it was good to see some big numbers flooding into KyozoKicks yesterday, Hope you enjoyed what little content I currently have on the site. I’m off to see a friend tomorrow (Sunday) who is going to help me out with the site, move it on to another server and give it a new and easier look. Hopefully it’ll be link to my Flikr account, DeviantArt etc. and just be easier to read.

I wanted to run something past you guys, Obviously this website will feature my current and ongoing projects, but I have some free time and was wondering if you would be interested in me occasionally throwing up some features of my own and other peoples work? I was thinking with your help we could link other video game related apparel (Also TV shows and movies) And then I could maybe cover some of my own gear/ techniques/ tutorials and get you guys making your own stuff? Which I would happily put on the site.

Let me know. Anyway just wanted to say thank you to the following;

If I have forgotten anyone please let me know in the comments.

And of course a big thank you to all of you, especially those who left me comments and suggestions across the various sites. Bookmark me and check back for a new, fresh and easier (fingers crossed) blog soon.

Well, There done!

Phoenix Wright

Ebay Link > For Sale On Ebay

Based off the awesome Phoenix Wright series, I hope that if your a fan of the series you knew that already. Well lets jump straight into how they came together.

Day 1

Here the shoes are day one. Lovely and clean, at this point I already had the basic idea of how the shoes were going to come together, had the paints ready and was busy sketching away.

Day 2

Getting the design and scale set, decided to cut it out and lay it over the shoes. This step really helped later on.

Day 3

Using a sharp white pencil, I started sketching out the outline of the design. Still wasn’t sure it was going to come together at this point.

Day 4

dscf71321

The point of no return, paint has hit canvas. I quickly realised to get a solid white this was going to need ALOT of coats, in the end it worked out about 5 or 6 coats.

dscf7134

Colour hits the shoe. Honestly, at this point i didn’t think it was working. I could tell what it was because I know what it was meant to be. But would others?

dscf71371

Back on track! putting in the highlights and definition really made it come together. Things were looking sweet again and I was happy.

In the end I added the black border and Bam, the shoe was done (the other shoes is the same process, but with the words Hold It! rather than Objection!) Couldnt really say how many house I put into them, All I do know is I listened to a TON of Smodcast, if your a fan of Kevin Smith I would say go listen to it, but you probably already are).I kind of start these things and I dont really notice the passing of time, heck I had fun doing them and I can’t wait to get started on another pair.

For that I’m going to need your feed back, once these shoes have gone I’m going to give out the details of the shoe straight off the bat, what I’m not sure of is what size to do them on – that’s where you guys come in. more on that later.

Until next time guys, heres hoping whoever gets the shoes in the end will post on this blog – would love to here from you.

Price Announcement April 22, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — nicktonks @ 12:15 pm

So, at this point I would say its going to be a couple of evenings left finishing these shoes up and then they can move on to bigger and better things. The colours work well, The very nature of the design gives off this real Pop Art vibe which I didn’t think of when I was sketching things out, but I’m digging it now.

It’s looking like, barring any awesome suggestions from you guys that eBay will be where I finally put the shoes up for sale. That kinda sucks but whatever. However some awesome (awesome!) Day of the Tentacle shoes recently did the rounds to various websites, and found their way to the Bay for….$250….US. I’m not shitting on the shoes, I’m not saying that their not worth that but damn, that’s a strong opener – it’s had a single bid so they got some good money coming their way.

$250 immediately kicks a large portion of your audience to the curb, that’s a shame – I want people having fun, sticking in bids and talking crap about my shoes, ultimately I want them in the hands of a fan.  So my opening offer will be 0.99c – No reserve, If make enough on them to cover the cost of the shoes then I’m happy, a couple more bucks and I can buy some more paints and keep my hobby going.

There you go then guys, 99 cents. Hope that opens the door to a few more of you.

Teaser Time April 20, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — nicktonks @ 4:26 pm

Thought I would slowly start letting go of some of the goods on the next pair of shoes, At this point I have finished one (the left one encase your interested) And I’m really pleased with it. I like this idea with video game themed apparel that you can make it immediately recognizable to a fan, yet its meaningless to everyone else. This pair is very much in that vein, and fans of the series (is that the first clue? I think so) will pick up on them straight away I hope.

OK, so starting off is a pair on Vans slip-ons in a Royal Blue, Size 10 (US) which is a 9.5 (UK) men’s

A Blank Canvas

More info to follow!

P.S Had a couple of emails asking this so will answer it for everyone, I’m UK based but will be shipping the shoes worldwide if need be.

Always happy to answer your questions guys, leave them in the comments and i’ll answer them ASAP, something I was (and still) unable to do on Kotaku.

Cut down in my prime! April 17, 2009

Hey guys the new shoes are coming along nicely, thanks for asking.

….was that a tumbleweed?

Anyway, In the last post I mentioned how I wanted everyone to at least have the chance to own my  custom shoes, despite your level of disposable income.

Well that idea has been shot down. My idea was to raffle them off, say in for a $1, everyone has an equal chance, but apparently online that’s rather illegal! So I’m back to square one, I could stick them on eBay, but then it’s determined by who has the most money.

Any ideas guys?

Tonks

P.S I apologise the blog looks well, crap. Been working on the upcoming shoes – No time for this new fangled internet! Will get on it ASAP

P.P.S How the heck do I put spaces between the paragraphs?

Oh, Hello! April 14, 2009

Hey Guys,

Well my names tonks and if your here, reading the very first page of my blog – no doubt you saw my Noby Noby Shoes (I call them shoes, but some people say kicks, sneakers, trainers – I guess I’m not that hip!)

Noby Noby Shoe

Noby Noby Shoe

Anyway Ive started a new pair, again based around (another) one of my favorite video games. Details of which will trickle out over this blog within the next couple of weeks.

But why should you care, well you can have them! yes you! One thing I really don’t like is how much people are charging for these one off shoes – so I’m going to make it possible for everyone to have a chance to own a pair of custom shoes, you’ll have change out of 5 bucks.

All I ask is for your help. Although the next pair is underway I’m going to throw up some polls, what game next? what size shoe? what ever comes out tops is what goes on the shoe. You help me I help you.

right Ive used way too many exclamation points for one post, leave a comment – make yourself known, the shoes might be yours!

Tonks (kyozokicks@googlemail.com)

P.S Noby Noby Shoe, as seen on:

Among others! If you see them about, do give me a shout.
